ruins of several Early Croatian fortresses from the 14th century line the banks of the Krka River: Kami\u010dak, Tro\u0161enj, Ne\u010dven, Bogo\u010din and Klju\u010dica, one of the largest and most significant defensive structures in all of Croatia.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-656acf65 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"656acf65\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The territory between the Krka and \u010cikola Rivers, including Promin Mountain, was known as the Promin-Miljevac area in Croatian medieval history. During the Middle Ages, Croatian princes and noblemen erected magnificent fortress-cities here.\nToday only ruins remain, with the occasional visible tower and wall, which still testify to their former greatness. The fortresses were erected at the edge of the Krka canyon, on both the left and right sides. As well as occasionally serving for defensive purposes, the fortresses also formed the core of individual settlements. The noble Croatian \u0160ubi\u0107 family built the fortresses Tro\u0161enj-grad (\u010cu\u010devo) and Rogovo on the right bank of the River, while the fortresses on the left bank, Ne\u010dven, Bogo\u010din and Kami\u010dak were in the possession of other great Croatian families: Nelipi\u0107, Martinu\u0161i\u0107, Bogeti\u0107, Utje\u0161inovi\u0107 and Mi\u0161ljenovi\u0107. The Nelipi\u0107 nobles owned what was by far the loveliest of all the fortresses, Klju\u010dica, which stood over the \u010cikola River medieval fortress in Krka National Park.<\/strong><\/p><p>It was erected by the Croatian noble Nelipi\u0107 family in the 13th century over the canyon of the \u010cikola River in order to protect their estate from their rivals, the noble \u0160ubi\u0107 family. Due to its strategic position, Klju\u010dica was often a source of conflict for its masters, the \u0160iben\u010dani.<\/p><p>In 1546, it was conquered by the Turks who ruled here until 1648 when they were finally forced out. Since then, Klju\u010dica has been abandoned and no one ever lived here between Ro\u0161ki slap and Visovac Lake.<\/strong><\/p><p>According to preserved historical records from 1345, the Croato-Hungarian King Ludovik confirmed the heritage right of Ivan Nelipi\u0107 over Kami\u010dak. The later Turkish invasions and their occupation of the entire area meant the loss of the significance of Kami\u010dak, and it was abandoned.<\/p><p>Kami\u010dak is also called Utje\u0161inovi\u0107a Grad by the locals, as the first Croatian Cardinal Juraj Utje\u0161inovi\u0107 was born here in 1482. Also born here was Marko Mi\u0161ljenovi\u0107, who was appointed Croatian Ban by the Croato-Hungarian King Ladislav in be seen on the left bank of the Krka River, on a high rock near the village of Bogati\u0107.<\/strong><\/p><p>It was likely erected by the Croatian noble Nelipi\u0107 family, while later it was ruled over by the great Martinu\u0161i\u0107 family. A single, excellently preserved medieval road lead to Bogo\u010din, and the fortress could only be entered via a drawbridge.<\/p><p>In the early 16th century, it was taken over by the Turks and remained in Turkish hands until very edge of a cliff on the left bank of the Krka River.<\/strong><\/p><p>Its original masters were the Nelipi\u0107 family, owners of the entire Promina-Miljevac region. The estate remained under their ownership until 1421, when it came into the hands of the noble Martinu\u0161i\u0107 family. In the early 16th century, the Turks conquered Ne\u010dven and held it until 1688.<\/p><p>The Turks brought their soldier here, and turned it into the seat of the Krka nahija (administrative unit of the Ottoman Empire), and later the sand\u017eakat (district) and kadiluk (judicial centre). After the departure of the Turks, Ne\u010dven was torched and half opposite the fortress of Ne\u010dven, on the right bank of the Krka River.<\/strong><\/p><p>It was once under the possession of the great Croatian \u0160ubi\u0107 family, who ruled over the entire right bank of the Krka River. It was likely erected to guard and control the strategically important bridge over the River.<\/p><p>The Turkish army took over Tro\u0161enj in 1522, where they housed their military units, and built a rounded tower. The invasion of the Venetian army to these regions in 1686 ousted the Turks, and the majority of the fortress was
