Forth Souvenir Workshop as Part of the EU Project “Unknown Krka”

The forth three-day workshop of the project "Unknown Krka: hidden treasures of the upper and middle reaches of the Krka River" (KK 06.1.2.01.003), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Program ‘Competitiveness and Cohesion’ 2014-2020, of total value HRK 80,057,649,15 was held at the Krka Eco Campus in Puljane.

Wool felting workshop – making a puppet

On the first day, the participants were introduced to the methods of processing sheep wool. Pieces of material for the clothes of a Roman soldier, a puppet, were made with the wet felting technique (using warm water, soap, bubble wrap and light massaging).

The participants then made body parts, by following the given diagram and using the dry felting technique (with an underlay of sponge and by pushing felting needles into the wool). Fragrant lavender was inserted inside the puppet. The assembled parts were sewn together for the flexibility of its joints.

From the previously made material, clothes, helmet, shield and sword were sewn for the puppet.

Finally, the head, arms and legs were tied to a wooden cross brace for controlling the movement of the puppet.
